Professional Development

The North Santiam School District recognizes the abundance of research that states the greatest influence on student learning is the quality of the teacher. With that research in mind, the district takes great pride in offering a robust professional development program. The number of teachers who report having access to high quality professional development opportunities at NSSD is 18% higher than in other schools throughout the state, as reported on the 2016 TELL Survey. Teachers who are new to the district frequently comment how surprised they are with the amount of professional development they have available to them in the district and as part of their work day.

North Santiam offers instructional coaches, technology coaches and a new-teacher mentor to support teacher learning. District-Level Presenters offer after school courses in a variety of content areas for staff. Additionally, teachers are able to request to attend out-of-district professional development.
