Understanding Your Total Compensation (PERS Benefit)

At North Santiam School District, we are committed to a competitive and transparent compensation package. One of our most significant benefits is how we handle retirement contributions:

  • The NSSD Advantage: Unlike many school districts, NSSD pays the 6% employee portion of the PERS contribution on your behalf. This means 6% more stays in your paycheck than in districts where the employee must pay out of pocket.

  • 2026-27 Licensed Salary Schedule 1 (Standard) page 1: This schedule reflects your actual base salary for the 2026-27 school year.

  • 2026-27 Licensed Salary Schedule 2 (Comparative) page 2: This schedule demonstrates what your 2026-27 school year "gross" salary would look like, including the 6% PERS employee contribution. We provide this to help you make an "apples-to-apples" comparison when looking at offers from other school districts.

  • 2026-27 Classified Salary Schedule:  Note: We are currently in bargaining with the Classified Union and will update the rates upon ratification. 

    • To calculate the hourly rates for Classified positions, accounting for the 6% contribution, multiply the hourly rate by 1.06.

Why this matters: In a district that does not pay the 6% contribution, a $50,000 base salary actually nets you less take-home pay because that 6% is deducted immediately. At NSSD, your base salary is yours to keep, and the district adds the retirement contribution on top.
